YPD Officers Providing Gifts for Local Children

Yakima Police Department (YPD) officers will go shopping at 8:00 am tomorrow, Thursday, at Walmart, 6600 W.Nob Hill Blvd., to provide gifts for area children.

“Every year YPD has participated in a program which pairs children with police officers for a shopping event,” said Interim Police Chief Gary Jones. “Numerous officers throughout the police department sponsored a child and each donated at least $50 of their own money to ensure a child would have a gift or gifts at Christmas.”

Officers will meet at Walmart at 8:00 am on Thursday to shop with the children they’ve sponsored. The media is invited to attend the event, and Interim Chief Gary Jones will be in attendance and available for comment.

“YPD officers are to be commended for their efforts to continue this giving tradition for our local children,” Jones said.
