At 3:24 pm on Monday, April 5th, Yakima Police Department (YPD) officers were dispatched to 1010 Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way in response to a report of a gunshot victim. Officers located the 37-year-old Yakima man on the sidewalk, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Officers rendered first aid while waiting for fire and ambulance to arrive. The victim was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Motel 6 has surveillance video that captured the shooting. Detectives from YPD’s Major Crimes Unit and Gang Unit investigated and processed the scene.
