Command staff with the Yakima Police Department (YPD) will launch a community outreach effort this Wednesday, November 20th.
Called “Boots on the Ground,” the program begins this Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Command staff will be walking in Yakima’s Downtown Business District during that timeframe.
“Command staff are supporting efforts by patrol officers to get out and make community contacts during their shift,” said Lieutenant Linda Watts with YPD’s Patrol Division. “This is a great opportunity for the community to meet the leaders of our Department and for us to make connections in the community.”
The plan is for YPD command staff to have a “Boots on the Ground” outreach each month in the city of Yakima.
