Yakima Police Ask for Community Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

The Yakima Police Department (YPD) is asking for community members to help identify a suspect in the robbery of a local business earlier this week.

On Tuesday, February 22nd at about 10:34 pm, Yakima police officers responded 404 North 1st Street (Delaney’s Lost Sock Laundromat) after a distraught woman called 9-1-1 and said she had been robbed at gunpoint.

A nearby YPD officer responded to the laundromat and located the robbery victim. The 36-year-old Yakima woman was crying, shaking and having trouble breathing, according to the first responding officer. She told the officer she was working in the office when a male with a blue bandana over his face, wearing a black jacket, and carrying a silver pistol approached her from behind. He demanded access to the laundromat’s cash register. At gunpoint, the suspect made the employee open the cash register. The suspect grabbed cash and fled out the business.

“We need the public’s help with this robbery,” YPD Captain Jay Seely said. “Someone knows this guy. He’s wearing a distinct jacket and shoes and we hope someone recognizes his clothing and calls our Criminal Investigations Division,” said Seely.
