Yakima Police (“YPD”) Investigators have determined that a shooting which occurred on Saturday, May 26th was an unintentional homicide. YPD Detectives were able to interview all of the men who were inside of the vehicle at the time of the shooting and identified a 19-year-old man who fired off the gun that killed 29-year-old Omar Sanario-Rizo. Today that suspect was arrested at his Yakima home and he faces a charge of 2nd-degree manslaughter. YPD detectives believe that the victim was shot inside the vehicle near the 1300 block of East Alder and transported to the 400 block of South Fair Avenue, which is where YPD Officers made contact with them While the shooting is believed to be unintentional, YPD detectives believe that there was negligence on the part of the shooter.
