Yakima police have identified 24-year-old Felipe Manual Samano as the man who was shot by the owner of a downtown Yakima business this morning while Samano was apparently attempting to burglarize the business.
Yakima police were dispatched to 30 N. 2nd Street, which is currently home to a Farmer Insurance office, at 8:38 am today in response to a burglary in progress/shots fired call. Officers located Semano inside the insurance office. He had minor gunshot wounds to his chin and right arm. Semano was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The owner of the insurance business, Juan Silva, told police he shot the suspected burglar. He is cooperating with the police investigation.
Semano has now been booked in the Yakima County Jail on charges of 1st degree burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 1st degree.
