Yakima police responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 11:15 am today near the intersection of 6th Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard. Witnesses reported that a person on foot and a person in a vehicle had exchanged gunfire in the area near the intersection just prior to the collision occurring.
As the vehicle involved in the shooting was fleeing the area, it collided with another vehicle near the 6th Avenue and Nob Hill intersection. The driver of the vehicle suspected to have been involved in the shooting jumped out of the car after the collision occurred and headed north on 6th Avenue. Yakima police officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The search did, however, result in police locating a firearm believed to be involved in the shooting.
Neither the shooting incident nor the vehicle collision resulted in anyone being injured.
No suspect(s) in the shooting have been identified yet. Yakima police continue to investigate the incident.
