The Yakima police officers involved in Sunday morning’s critical incident at the intersection of 5th Avenue and MLK, Jr. Boulevard are:
- Officer Chris Taylor (15 years of experience)
- Officer Adam Schilperoort (8 years of experience)
- Officer Dylan Alte (8 months experience)
The Yakima Police Department is conducting an administrative investigation into the incident for purposes of determining whether the officers’ actions were in accordance with Yakima Police Department policies and procedures. The administrative investigation is separate from the investigation underway by the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit (YVSIU). Updates and information regarding the YVSIU investigation should be routed through the YVSIU-designated public information officer.
