On Sunday, Yakima police arrested 22-year-old Jose Serrano-Dominguez on suspicion of having committed an armed robbery on Friday night at the A&A Mini Mart on North 5th Avenue.
Shortly after 1:00 pm on Sunday, an employee of the A&A Mini Mart spotted Serrano-Dominguez standing across the street from the store and called police. Before officers arrived, Serrano-Dominguez got into a vehicle that was heading north.
Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Fruitvale Boulevard. While searching Serrano-Dominguez, police found a handgun that belonged to an employee of the A&A Mini Mart. The gun, along with an undisclosed amount of money, was taken during the robbery on Friday night.
Police believe Serrano-Dominguez entered A&A Mini Mart at about 8:40 pm Friday, pointed an assault-type rifle at the clerk and demanded money. Police found a rifle matching the description provided by witnesses in the vehicle Serrano-Dominguez was in when he was arrested.
Serrano-Dominguez was booked into the Yakima County Jail on robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm charges.
