No Shave November a Big Success

The  “No Shave November,”  has come to an end and a local charity is thrilled with the outcome. Fifty Yakima Police Officers participated in the fundraising event and each donated $50.00 to Children’s Wishes and Dreams, a local charity that grants wishes to children with a life-threatening or life-altering condition. The officers donated the money in lieu of spending money on shaving supplies. On Friday, November 1st, a special presentation was held to present Heidi Anderson, the Director of Children’s Wishes and dreams with $2500.  Also at the Friday morning ceremony, The Blue Nights, a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement officers who enjoy riding motorcycles matched the Yakima Police Department Donations with a check for $2500 . The Range, a local shooting and training facility donated over $1350 which was raised during a barbeque they hosted this fall. The “No Shave November,” was such a huge success the plan is to have it an annual fundraiser.
