Names of Two Victims of 8th Street Shooting Released

Yakima police have released the names of the two victims of a late-night shooting that occurred Saturday in the 300 block of North 8th Street.

One of the victims, 18-year-old Amador Ruiz, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Sunday and is reported to be in critical but stable condition there.  The second victim of the shooting, 18-year-old Alec Martinez-Gonzalez, was treated at a local hospital and released.

A few minutes after 11:00 pm on Saturday, August 10th, Yakima police responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the vicinity of the 300 block of North 8th Street.  When officers arrived on scene, they found Ruiz, who had been shot once in the buttocks.  After Ruiz had been transported to a local hospital for treatment, Martinez-Gonzalez came to the same hospital and told medical staff he had been shot in the shoulder. 

No suspect(s) in the shooting of Ruiz and Martinez-Gonzalez have been identified yet.  Yakima police continue to investigate the incident.
