Community members will have morning and evening opportunities to meet Yakima Police Department (YPD) officers assigned to Districts 7, 8 and 9 during an event this Friday, August 23rd.
The “Meet Your District Officer” event will be from 7:00 am to 8:00 am and 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Newsroom Coffee, Chalet Place, 5261 Summitview Avenue.
“YPD has officers assigned to 9 districts to enhance community policing,” said Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray. “This will be an opportunity for those who live and work in Districts 7, 8 and 9 to meet officers serving their area.”
An interactive map at https://yakimapolice.org/ypd-district-map/ shows areas in the City covered by each of the 9 YPD Districts. Visitors to the site can enter the address of their work or home to find their YPD Districts.

Also this week, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 24th, YPD officers will participate in a “BBQ with the Cops” event hosted by The Range in Yakima, 1701 Garretson Lane. The event is open to the community. There is a $5 charge for the barbecue, with proceeds benefitting Youth Outdoors Unlimited. Call The Range at 571-1449 for more information about the barbecue.
