Ceremony Held to Honor Peace Officers Killed in the Line of Duty

A special ceremony was held May 10th at Performance Park in Downtown Yakima to honor Peace Officers killed in the line of duty. Members of the Yakima Police Department, Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol, along with a handful of citizens attended. Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi, Yakima County Sheriff Brian Winter and Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic each gave a short message. The Yakima Police Honor Guard presented Colors, Yakima Police Officer Nate Henyan read the names of the 124 Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty this past year, Detective Gonzalo Deloza presented a Memorial Wreath and rang a “21 Bell Salute,” and Officer Kim Hippner played “Tapps.”
