New Yakima Police Probationary Officer Mario Vela was sworn in by Yakima City Clerk Sonja Claar Tee. The 27-year-old is a 2007 graduate of Wapato High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Washington. Mario’s uncle is longtime Yakima Police Officer Jaime Gonzalez.
